Universal's Preschool Action Series POWERBIRDS
(40 x 11 minutes)

As Art Director for Powerbirds, I drew inspiration from vintage comics, incorporating their signature visual printing quirks such as color offsets, misalignments, offset line art, and halftone patterns. These elements were meticulously recreated to give the show a nostalgic yet dynamic aesthetic.
To enhance the action-packed tone, layouts featured low and Dutch angles, creating dramatic, engaging compositions. Set designs avoided parallel lines, favoring irregular angles to convey energy and movement, bringing the vibrant world of Powerbirds to life.

OPENING TITLES BEATBOARDS

I developed a comprehensive color script consisting of 70+ detailed thumbnails, refining the color palette, transitions, and effects design for the show’s opening titles. These were based on storyboards by Dave Dekeyser and served as a vital reference for the animation, FX, and compositing teams, ensuring the desired look was achieved efficiently and cohesively.
Effect callouts informing both animation and compositing teams on the desired movement and look.
